The 2nd meeting of SwAi-CITIZENS-TOWN Sharing working algorithms for urban/rural waste collection project took place in Poznań Poland between the 7th to 12th August 2023. The meeting focused on the strategies and policies for garbage collection in the partners countries.
The meeting took place in the University Science High School in Poznań was hosted by Stowarzyszenie Aktywna Integracja Rurzyca.
The first day started with a welcome by the host Anna Dubik, followed by the introduction and presentation of strategies and policies for garbage collection and processing of waste in the partners organisations’ countries and the administrative structures participating in the project proposal, and the workshop discussion on them.
In the afternoon participants were introduced to the school and their work related to the project objectives and visit to the Science University of Poznań including discussions on environmental teaching methodologies.
On the second day of the project’s meeting took place theconference on “the use of algorithms for rural/urban waste collection manual for identifying and updating the priorities in relation to the environmental challenges facing each of the municipalities involved in the project, while preserving tree species in urban environments to the broad public.
Te conference was open to residents.

On the third day of the project’s meeting the participants visited to the Good Practises:
Visit to a locality waste separation site PSZOK GRATOWISKO Poznań to share and exchange good practices related to waste collection, separation and reuse.
Group site visit to a circular economy educational park built on a reclaimed landfill where students are brought to learn on the importance of waste separation and the reuse of waste products.
Visit to Biocomposting plant in Suchy Las Poznań where the participants saw the methodologies of creating compost from municipal biodegradable waste collection, forestry and garden waste. They had the opportunity to discuss, exchange knowledge and learn about the technologies, problems faced and solutions identified. During this visit the participants were also shown and given information on the production of energy generated through the composting process, providing a sustainable energy source.
